HANSEN DENIM

When HANSEN GARMENTS first started, we decided not to produce a denim collection but rather wait until the timing was right - when we felt we could contribute something special and when we knew we had the right partner. We also very much wanted it to be produced in Japan. Fourteen years later and we are proud to announce that being patient can be rewarded as we release our very first capsule of Japanese denim comprising a jacket, two styles of jeans, a henley and two bandanas.

Working with a highly regarded jeans factory in the traditional denim region of Okayama in Eastern Japan, we chose a loom-woven 13oz ‘neppy’ denim - one that has visible ‘neps’ or flecks on the surface, giving the fabric a rich texture and more rustic, used appeal. As well as utilising the factory’s expertise, in the design process it was important that we recognised the codes of vintage denim workwear - the seams, the trims, the stitching - but adapt them to something that fits in with the HANSEN aesthetic.
