Originally made in wool, the sweatshirt later evolved into cotton with a brushed loopback interior - a practical garment designed to absorb moisture and worn daily.  
It was quickly adopted by military academies and became a standard issue across the United States.

The fabric for this sweatshirt is still produced on traditional loopwheel machines, creating a soft, flexible cloth with natural irregularity. It is constructed with four-needle flatlock seams, typically used for undergarments, for added comfort. A ribbed V-insert is stitched onto the body - a detail known as the stitched-down V.
